The purpose of this research is to analyse the social representations of immigrants given by a sample of young Italian students, departing from a qualitative content study of a group of metaphors. Through qualitative and quantitative analyses we conclude that the source domains of the metaphors used by the students suggest patters of attributes against a typical representation of immigrants as threat. Then metaphors can help to read social representations.
