Abstract

Τhe present paper examines the interplay of satire, irony, parody and humor in Yiannis Skarimbas prose –a famous poet and writer of the 30’s in Greece-. The choice of his works was deliberate as they are enriched with these features of figuration. The author of the dissertation analyses the function of satire, irony, parody and humor and indicates their boundaries, taking into account the various debates concerning their relationship and usage in prose. The main aesthetic impact of these features in Skarimbas work is the creation of a sense of subvertion in which the traditional and the new style are brought inevitably and continually into conflict. This renders his work an ideological – and conceptual challenge. Overall, the author describes the influence of his effective and unique prose style in the decade of the '30s.
