Abstract
This paper provides an overview of four different points of view on the cognitive study of semantic change in proper names: Conceptual Metaphor Theory (G. Lakoff, M. Johnson), Conceptual Integration Theory (G. Fauconnier, M. Turner), Reference Theory: identifiers and pseydoidentifiers (S. Kripke, T. Bulygina, A. Shmelev, A. Babushkin), and Precedence Theory (Yu. Karaulov, V. Krasnykh, D. Gudkov).
