Abstract
The paper describes the concepts of LANGUAGE based on an analysis of the use of the word 'language' in recent linguistic research, i.e. in the metalanguage of modern linguistics. LANGUAGE is analysed within the framework of the conceptual metaphor theory to understand how the concept of LANGUAGE functions in modern linguistics.
