Abstract

By analyzing news articles and editorials, we study how the crisis of 2008 was covered by El Mundo and El País. The metaphorical language used by both newspapers portrayed the crisis as something inevitable, like an illness or a natural disaster. Each of the two newspapers has a different political leaning. Each newspaper is part of a larger parent company who would guide the narrative in the coverage of the crisis.
