Abstract

By addressing the conventional failure in psychology to successfully establish a contact with people’s everyday experiences, the paper provides a contribution to post-crisis, social constructionist psychological literature. The authors’ work develops within the paradigm of narrative psychology, in particular it is focused on metaphor, intended as a useful way to explore how our selves and our social interactions are sociolinguistically constructed. To this purpose, an article by Ian Parker is discussed and a text by Bronwyn Davies and Rom Harré is considered and analyzed to show how valuable metaphor is in order to detect and eventually change interpretations in daily encounters.
