Abstract

The paper discusses the notional sphere LABOUR and its semantic structure in English, German, Russian and Chechen idioms. A semantic analysis is carried out to identify the details of the relationship between the inner form and actual meaning of idioms, and the shared and particular traits of the representation of labour.
