Abstract
The current paper deals with slang vocabulary items that appear to have been incorporated in Modern Greek as loan words from English. These multi-word structures are referred to as anglicisms indicating the overall influence the English language has exerted on Greek at a semantic, pragmatic and syntactic level. The anglicisms studied include taboo words or refer to taboo issues, and they are used metaphorically.
