Abstract
In this paper, emphasis is placed on some implicational constructions of the English language. It is claimed that they arise from the conventionalization of inferences, which result from the metonymic activation of low-level situational cognitive models. The author also proposes a categorization of such constructions based on their similarities from a pragmatic point of view.
