Abstract

This paper focuses on linguistic trajectors (i.e. located entities) that signify fixed durations of TIME. The analysis suggests that the understanding of TIME through SPACE is more nuanced than suggested in the literature. In specific contexts, trajectors are not typically people in motion, but events or processes located in, or on time landmarks. The study also emphasizes the need to test the systematicity of the mappings proposed by Conceptual Metaphor Theory.
