In this paper, in an attempt to seek the trends in sexuality in the nineteenth and twentieth century, the author investigates and evaluates different sources and records where erotic terminology is used, be it literal or metaphorical. Topics such as the erotic age preference, the erotic gender preference and sexuality expressed as homo-sexuality, fetishism, perversion etc. are explored in terms of linguistic definitions. For instance, a number of Western sources show that homosexuality would be characterized as ‘sick desire’ in psychopathology. Overall, sexuality is discussed in terms of language, culture and the evolution of life sciences.
