This study investigates the presence and significance of colour terms in Persian proverbial language. The analysis is carried out on a representative selection of 56 Persian proverbs taken from three Iranian proverb books. As the author point out, the distribution of colour terms in the analyzed proverbs is not equal and their connotation is both positive and negative. Languages users are thus suggested to be careful in their use of the proverbs in different domains.
