The paper aims at demonstrating how a certain semiotic sphere - that of music - affects the formation of phraseological meaning. To this end, the issue of inter-semiotic transposition is discussed, as well as the nature of culture and phraseological meaning. Special attention is given to the development of the notion 'phraseological image' as a result of inter-semiotic transposition. The author argues that a phraseological image is a highly complex conceptual unit which functions as a source for any investigation into a person's worldview.
