This article focuses on metaphors uses inside the journalistic discourse of the Tribuna do Paraná, a Brazilian printed newspaper. The theoretical support is provided by the contributions of Lakoof and Jonhson (2002). The analysis results confirm the Conceptual Metaphor Theory understanding thatnot only the traditional view can be rather restrictive, but also that metaphors are relevant linguistic resource in every day communication.
