This article highlights the use of metaphors concerning the Hulk's performance as a soccer player. The corpus is composed of data obtained from an articlein the spots section of the daily newspaper O Povo, which is published in Fortaleza – Ceará. By means of the identification of conceptual metaphors and their corresponding, the production of different meanings was analyzed. The main objective in this investigation is to provide the information on the mapping aspects which are involved in the construction of figurative meaning. In order to do so, we analyze the structure of the conceptual mappings network of the components which are in charge of the production of meaning, having Lakoff and Johnson's Theory of Conceptual Metaphor (1980) and Lakoff's contributions (1987) as our theoretical basis
