Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyse metaphors applied in distant education and their influence on establishing goals for education library services. The author claims that some metaphors focus on growth and communication, while others put emphasis on distance between learners and their instructor. The author suggests that on the basis of these findings, librarians can choose adequate or create new metaphors to diminish students’ confusion referring to their understanding of distance education.
