The aim of the study is to introduce a linguistic perspective into design pedagogy, in particular into teaching art critique. Using the cognitive theory of metaphor, the author analysed spoken texts of graphic design educators. The author assumes that the results of the study can help teachers to better convey the knowledge of cultural values of the field under investigation to both native and non-native students.
