Abstract

The research investigates Donna Orange’s approach towards metaphors in her psychoanalytic procedures. In particular, the author explains the mechanism of the expression of the unspeakable traumatic living memories through emotional embodying. The author states that fresh metaphors, when they emerge as an outcome of convergence of psychoanalysis and other fields of thought, improve understanding of traumatic events and freshen experiencers’ perspective while the conventional metaphors may restrict it.
