The book investigates the analogies between the pipe organ and the human body availing itself of the cognitive tool of the metaphor which offers access to the philosophical, theological, esoteric and cosmological thought. The analysis focuses on Boethius’ subdivision of the music, i.e. mundana, humana and instrumentalis. Overtime, the pipe organ has been identified as the best musical instrument that imitates the human voice. Doctors and scientists often use the pipe organ to describe how the human body works, therefore metaphor has a poietic and creative function by which man’s features are embodied in the organ.
