Abstract

The article conducts a comparative qualitative corpus study of English and Arabic popular science texts. The data come from two popular science journals: Scinetific America and Majallat Al-Oloom collected in the years 1995-2009. The study analyses and classifies various translation strategies of culture specific pedagogical metaphors. It concludes that the pedagogical metaphors in popular science writing are culturally nuanced.
