The article analyses metaphorical expressions, and underlying figurative constructions, in the semantic field of computers and the internet in a corpus of around 1.5 million words. It finds two underlying metaphorical constructions, COMPUTERS ARE BUILDINGS and COMPUTERS ARE HUMANS, the former accounting for most metaphorical expressions. The paper also comments upon the influence English expressions have in this area.
