Abstract

The present paper offers a research-based example of translanguaging pedagogy to show how it goes against current proposals for immersion pedagogy put forward to systematically improve students’ academic literacy in the minority language. Arguments proposed here opt for more sustained use of the minority language, and remain based on previous research on both the benefits of separate spaces for instructional languages as well as cognitive notions, i.a. the depth of processing and skill acquisition.
