The textbook presented here focuses on implementing the communicative paradigm, more specifically its different approaches, i.e., cognitive linguistics, task-based approach, into the ELE (Spanish as a foreign language) teaching practice. The authors reflect upon the main problems that have traditionally affected the teaching of ELE. These errors tend to arise from the fact that learners assimilate the linguistic theory but ignore the cognitive and cultural elements that affect their use within the native culture and thought. Throughout the textbook, an explicit explanation of contents is shown, proving the rich and productive nature of this cognitive approach.
