Rhetorical figures are devices, in speech and writing, used to create a particular effect. They represent, especially in poetic language, a deviation, a departure from ordinary language. This book would like to be an accurate, though not overly complex, repertory of rhetorical figures in the Italian language in order to make the reader understand the function of the respective formulas and put him in a position to clearly observe their structure. The book attempts to organize the subject matter by exposing it in a schematic way, deliberately flat and accessible, even in the choice of examples (all taken from Italian, Greek and Latin classics and sometimes in foreign languages). The exposition of the rules is kept equally simple, without making it overly mechanical or overly complex.
