In this article, we are interested in the image of Russian reality such as it appears through the metaphors used by the Russian media. The main objective of our work consists in listing and analyzing the metaphorical expressions which reflect the specificities of twenty-first-century Russia and highlight in a coherent way the conceptualization of reality by a Russian-speaking community. Our study reveals some tendencies related to the use of the metaphors in the Russian media. The quantitative analysis of the corpus revealed the prevalence of the metaphors concerned in relation with certain referential categories. As for the qualitative analysis, it enabled us to bring some typical conceptual metaphors to the fore and to clarify the axiological character of metaphors. (Vladimir Beliakov)
