Abstract

Drawing on a previous study (Calil, 1995), the writing process of two Brazilian first graders is analyzed, focusing on the relationship between writer and text, specifically the writers' control of ideas by means of erasures and corrections. The changes made in the script representation of language are interpreted as metaphorization and metonymy processes reflecting the writers' alienation and symbolization positions (Lemos, Claudia Tereza Guimaraes de, 1997) with respect to language in its written and oral form.
