Abstract

The author of this article considers the discursive practices that have served conceptually and ontologically to trouble the boundaries between nursing and technology. According to the author, nursing and technology have been semiotically related by two processes (by the metaphor that depicts nursing as technology and by opposition). The author also argues that nursing and technology have been semiotically linked by the metaphor that depicts technology as nursing and by metonymy, or by word or picture juxtapositions of nursing with technology.
