Abstract

This work of literary criticism discusses two novels, The Dogs Came with Them, and Under the Feet of Jesus, both written by Helena María Viramontes. The author focuses on metaphor and metonymy used in the novels to convey topics related to environmental justice. Based on the examples found in the texts, the author demonstrates how environmental metaphors and metonymies exhibit environmental racism. Among other topics covered, there is eco-criticism environmental justice movements.
