By analyzing parables, this paper briefly compares the framework of conceptual metaphor theory and conceptual integration from these viewpoints: domains and mental spaces, mapping and projection, entrenchment and on-line processes, and the invariance principle and the optimality principle, with the view of expanding the theoretical space for metaphor studies, literary criticism, and discourse analysis.
