Abstract

This is a special issue of the periodical The Translator on Bourdieu and the sociology of translation and interpreting. It contains contributions about the construction of the 'Object' in Translation and Interpreting Studies; on a Bourdieusian theory of translation, or the coincidence of practical instances: field, 'habitus', capital and 'illusio'; on the genesis of the field of drama translation in Egypt; about how Latour's Network Theory could complement Bourdieusian analyses in Translation Studies. Furthermore there are contributions on the ethnographic grounding of habitus and voice; about the sign language interpreter in inclusive education; and on Bourdieu and legal translation.
