To many people, but also to several translators, translation seems to be an easy and mechanical activity, but in reality, translation is a creative activity, comparable to the activity of a painter or a writer. This has several reasons: first of all, translation can’t be easy or mechanical because each language has its own characteristics. Secondly, without the creative support of the translator, not one translation would live up to the expectations. Thirdly, the techniques and the possession of certain aptitudes are methods for the creative process of translation. And finally, the translation of a text in the target language is a creation on its own.
