Some considerations on the current situation of the European translation market and its future evolution in the short- and medium-term are set out in the following pages. These are based on some of the talks given by the participants of two forums held in Porto and Geneva, as well as on the subsequent interchange of opinions. The authors suppose that many of these considerations can be extrapolated to translation markets in other parts of the world, as well as to other industries directly related to the world of communications in general, whose limits today are more diffuse than ever.
