This publication consists of two part: part 1 contains the papers presented at the Second Symposium on Standardization of Terminology: Theory and Practice, which was held in Cincinnati, Ohio, 24 June 1987 and sponsored by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) Committee on Terminology. Part 2 offers a collection of the short contributions called "Terminology Update" which appeared in ASTM's monthly publication Standardization News. This second volume of symposium papers continues the informing process concerning the world-wide theoretical and applied work on terminology, which had been started in volume 1. In this collection of a papers, however, much emphasis is on conceptual analysis in terminology work, on the future of computerised data bases and on the management of terminology in standards organisations.
