Among the topics discussed in this edited volume are the fundamental problems of lexicography (i.e. the semantics and meaning of words, techniques of composing a dictionary), the dictionary as a means to learn a language, false friends in French-English translation, the problem of bilingual dictionaries for non-native speakers (e.g. stylistic and geographical variants) and the role of the computer in the lexicographical field.
