This book is a collection of ten previously unpublished papers on machine translation. This volume comprises two converging trends in modern Machine Translation research, originating mainly in Artificial Intelligence and in Textlinguistics: the modelling of translation as a knowledge-based process, and the improvement of linguistic description by incorporating results of text-oriented research on analysis, translation and generation of natural languages.
