The present book contains three papers in which the author scrutinises some aspects of his skopos theory. His main thesis is that the nature of the translation is not determined by the characteristics of the source text but by the translation skopos. The target text is not perceived as something isolated but as an "information offer", viz a "communicative act", which goal is determined by an assignment between the customer and the translator.
