Abstract

In this article two translations of S.Y. Agnon's Talit aheret are presented, one by Jay D. Sakes and another one by Greta Greismann. In order to translate Agnon's work a Jewish reading is required, as pointed out by Greta Greisman. Several basic assumptions of what may be called a Jewish reading are discussed.
