This paper is about the management of a new interpreting assignment. Since thorough and conscientious preparation is of key importance for interpreters to be able to successfully complete an assignment, the author felt it necessary to devote a chapter to this subject. The topic of managing assignments involves three major aspects: 1) what should an interpreter do before an assignment, 2) how should s/he act during the assignment, and 3) what is s/he advised to do after the assignment?
