Abstract
Not only is the subject of civilisation in interpreter training not treated uniformly, but sometimes even within one institution or department where interpretation is taught, teachers take different attitudes to how important it is. There can, however, be no doubt that students of interpretation with a solid background in civilisation will perform far better than those students whose studies placed less emphasis on this field.
