In this article the author first characterises the means by which Noh theatre was internationally judged and then removes the cultural and structural obstacles which prevent the audience from getting a full comprehension of the Japanese archetype. Two theatre texts by the author are followed by a detailed discussion of specific forms and methods of staging Noh theatre.
