Abstract
Polysemy, i.e. the fact of having one graphic form but several meanings, exists both in colloquial language and in specialised language. In colloquial language, polysemy is very useful to create ambiguities or to give a word a figurative meaning. This article provides some definitions of polysemy and specialised vocabulary, discusses the translation problems of polysemy and examines some aspects of bilingual polysemy and specialised language.
