This book is written on the theme of court interpreting and interpreting for public bodies in the German speaking world. The author starts from the theoretical foundations of translation and the legal conditions of the working field. She then investigates the interpreting profession from an empirical point of view. An investigation and a case study show that the idea of the profession and the expectations of court interpreters often diverge with the interpreting practice. At the end of the book, the author develops some recommendations for a specific interpreter training within the field of court interpreting.
