Abstract

In simultaneous interpretation, as in most naturally occurring tracking tasks, the observer is often confronted with differential information load. For the interpreter, this may be due either to syntactic and/or semantic variability of the source language input, and/or to variability in source language presentation rate. In the present study, attention is paid to the effects of presentation rate of the source language on the performance of simultaneous conference interpreters.
