Abstract

The concept of ambiguity has been ascribed an important role in linguistic thought. The aim of the present article is to show that , from both a theoretical and descriptive point of view, the concept of ambiguity is ambiguous itself. According to the author the concept can be rendered univocal and be given a useful explicitative value by breaking it down to two distinctive concepts which difference is related to the Saussurian distinction between "Langue" and "Parole".
