Abstract

In the present article the author argues that one can only have read a text after having translated it. During the translation process one has to be aware that a translation does not only depend on the exact content of the source text but also on the angle of the source text. Therefore it is necessary to incorporate certain categories of literary studies, more particularly the category 'interpretation'. The present article focuses on the revival of hermeneutics and provides an insight into the concept of interpretation.
