Abstract

This book on 'MT system designs' is mainly concerned with the roles of its component disciplines: linguistics, computation, translation theory and artificial intelligence. The book is divided into two parts. Part I gives an overview of matters of general concern in MT. Part II examines six particular MT systems: SYSTRAN, TAUM-MÉTÉO, TAUM-AVIATON, GETA ARIANE-78; Wilks's "Preference Semantics" Sytem, and METAL.
