Abstract
A variety of claims have been made about the language of translation. One of these claims is that "translations into English have tended to be in a language that is less specific, more international, than most works originally written in English". The present article aims to investigate this claim from a corpus-based approach in order to identify the actual features which make the language of translated English less specific.
