Abstract
The teacher of English-French translation faces declining language standards, which are seen to be a manifestation of the current widespread "language crisis". This "crisis" is briefly examined with reference to the U.S.A., Britain, France, Québec and English Canada and an attempt is made to draw some conclusions.
