Abstract

In this article the author elaborates about the importance of translation from Catalan to Spanish in the 20th century. It is so that one can question the necessity of this type of translation, since all Catalans perfectly understand Spanish. This does not work the other way around: not all Spanish people understand Catalan. This situation was very different in earlier times. In this article the author presents a historical overview of how this situation evolved during the last centuries.
