Translation is a complex combination of art, science and skill. It refers to the communication between two languages and two cultures. Chinese and English are languages of different linguistic families and involve wide differences of culture. Undoubtedly the cultural barriers will lead to the trail in translation from English into Chinese and vice versa. Based on her experience as a teacher and translator, the author explicitly exposes the the reader through vivid examples where these barriers lie and how to remove them in order to make the version equivalent to the original as closely as possible. The purpose of translating is communicating. The removal of the barrier in communication in turn depends on translating. Translators over the world are duty-bound to remove all the barriers of communication among the peoples.
